Marcos Baghdatis is branding Cyprus tourism
Marcos Baghdatis, The tennis star from Cyprus has been elevated to Cyprus’ global ambassador to promote Cyprus as a holiday destination across the world. The tourism industry in Cyprus recorded an increase in the number of foreign arrivals last year and it is expected to increase further this year.

This new celebrity-fronted promotional drive will appear in all media channels in electronic and printed form which include outlets such as newspapers, magazines and television channels. The former Wimbledon semi-finalist and Australian Open runner-up has been signed by the Cyprus Tourist Organization (CTO) to be a part in the project.
The Financial Mirror has reported that Marcos Baghdatis is to feature heavily in promotional campaigns and adverts intended at foreign consumers. He has also agreed to participate in tourist fairs overseas.
Cyprus mail reported citing the Official statistics that the holidaymakers visiting Cyprus Came from places such as Germany, Greece and the UK. Britons are said to account for almost half of the foreign arrivals in Cyprus. The tennis star is particularly famous with tennis crazy fans of UK.
Data from the Statistical Service Cystat showed that the revenue generated by tourism industry is £1.4 billion in 2007 which is 5.9 per cent higher than the figure recorded during the previous year.
