A British couple has spoken highly of the quality of life they are now enjoying in Paphos, Cyprus.

According to Robert and Adele Philliben, they prefer quieter holidays so they decided to buy property in Paphos and another reason is that they have heard that the country’s housing market has affordable properties that are appreciating in value. They said that their social life has improved dramatically since they arrived on the island.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, they said they had been tempted to buy a property in Cyprus ever since they visited Ayia Napa earlier. Now the couple has bought two one-bedroom apartments at the Arcadia Gardens development, one of which has its own roof terrace for outdoor dining and sunbathing. Construction on Arcadia Gardens is expected to be completed by August 2010.All properties will be fully furnished and residents will have access to five large outdoor swimming pools along with sports and leisure facilities.

Mr. Robert said that the country offered a number of appealing features, such as its beaches, landscape, friendly people and good food. They are able to take part in far more outdoor activities than they could in the UK.

This comes soon after the news that Cyprus was praised by Shelter Offshore for offering affordable and quality healthcare to foreign expatriates.

Larnaca, one of the world’s oldest cities is a popular tourist destination among all age groups, one expert has claimed.

Larnaca has appealed to everyone and it has places to enjoy a night out and a variety of cultural and historical sites. Discover Larnaca, property portal has stated that the Larnaca is “quiet and picturesque”, while its good weather and scenery is also highlighted as additional benefits for tourists.

Financial mirror has reported that Lufthansa German Airlines will offer passage between Munich and Larnaca from next spring. The carrier will offer the service three times a week. Meanwhile, Monarch has announced that it will also increase the number of flights to Larnaca from Luton Airport to 14 services per week. Flights to Larnaca from both London Gatwick and Manchester have begun to operate this summer. This will boost the accessibility of Cyprus from Europe and potentially enhancing its status as a hotspot for foreign property investors.

The number of people passing through Paphos and Larnaca airports in Cyprus has increased and the two airports has handled more than six million passengers in 2007. This figure has already been beaten this year, the final number for 2008 as a whole is expected to be a record amount.

The hot summers and mild winters has led to it becoming a popular holiday destination for 12 months of the year, which has in turn created opportunities for overseas property buyers. The region’s housing market has seen substantial growth in recent times, with values has risen by about 15 per cent in the last year.

Investors in the Cypriot market are likely to benefit from the introduction of new flights to the island. The Cyprus Mail has reported that British Airways (BA) is to launch new direct flights to Cyprus from the UK. The carrier will introduce a daily service between Gatwick and Paphos next month.

The service would help raise the profile of the airport and enhance accessibility to Cyprus and is also likely to lead to an increased number of tourists and overseas property investors considering the island as a viable destination.

Marianna Trokoudes, BA’s commercial manager commented that the launch of this new service reinforced the carrier’s commitment to Cyprus. She added that this could potentially boost the number of tourists visiting Paphos, therefore enhancing its appeal as an overseas investment spot.

Research by airport operator Hermes showed that during 2007, more than six million passengers passed through Paphos and Larnaca airports. Experts have said that since this figure has already been beaten this year, the final number for 2008 as a whole will be a record amount.

Recent report in the Mirror stated that the Paphos is predominantly popular with overseas property owners from the UK. The newspaper further added that its housing market has seen significant growth in recent times, with values rising by over 80 per cent in the last few years.

There is music and dance festivals, flower festivals and religious festivals offer a colorful and electrifying glimpse into the Cypriot tradition and lifestyle. The Anthestiria Flower Festival in Paphos is a wonderful event which celebrates the arrival of spring and the beautiful bounty of nature. The streets of Paphos are filled with flowers which exhibit as a glorious floral parade making way through the town towards the Old Harbor (Kato Paphos) from Poseidon Avenue. Delicious fresh food and drink stalls are the other attractions of flower festival.

The origin of Anthestiria is from the Greek word anthos, meaning flower. Ancient Greeks celebrated the festival and carnivals were organised in Athens every four years to pay tribute to the god of theatre and parties, Dionysus. Anthestiria is also known to be the festivals of souls, plants and flowers and this is also considered celebrating the rebirth of man and nature.

Overseas property investors in Cyprus could be set to cash in on a surge in the number of tourists. The excellent tourist infrastructure, weather, and adoption of the Euro make the property market move upwards. Galway Advertisers has revealed that the Cyprus is attracting about 2.5 million foreign visitors every year. The newspaper said that overseas investors are enthusiastic about the market and choosing to buy new developments in hotspots such as Paphos.

Cyprus is currently undergoing the Strategic Plan for Tourism 2010 and this includes plans for increasing the amount of tourist arrivals, tourist trade and repeated visits.

Home Move website has stated that property values in Cyprus are likely to go up by about eight per cent in 2008 and according to property specialists Assetz, Cyprus property is set to boom with price rises of up to 15%.

Latest financial reports from the Cyprus Inland Revenue are a testimony for the fact that the Cyprus housing market has been popular among property buyers. According to the Cyprus Inland Revenue Department total tax revenue till November 2007 jumped 43.3% and that is nearly CYP 321 million or EUR 549 which at the same time in 2006 was CYP 305 million (£357 million) . Official figures from the Statistical Service CYSTAT show that house prices are rising faster than any other consumer goods. The average price of a home in Cyprus has now become CYP 84,490 which is comparatively lower than that of UK.

The Index of Economic Freedom by the Heritage Foundation has also pointed out that Cyprus has one of the freest economies in the world. This is really encouraging news for the overseas investors because the countries with the most economic freedom also have higher rates of long-term economic growth.

Paphos has seen consistent growth and house prices in Paphos areas steadily getting higher. This place is perfect for luxury home buyers as they can find spectacular luxury apartments, duplexes, villas and townhouses. 11 kilometers to the north of Paphos is Coral Bay which is one of the best natural beaches in the area. This is a well-recognized resort with many luxury villas. Recently Limassol is also becoming popular with overseas property purchasers and becoming a property investment hotspot.

Investors are already attracted to off plan or early bird projects.

stunning turquoise seas, clean sandy beaches, spectacular countryside, fabulous food and drinks, an enviable laid back pace of life and of course the famous Cypriot hospitality appeal to older travelers and retirees.

Mr. Dearsley further said that the west of the island is more popular for the languid pace of life and we can find people sitting and chatting all day long leisurely and is ideal place for retirees.

Paphos is a haven for those seeking sunshine and sandy beaches and the natural landscape which is suitable for incredible adventures.

Cyprus, along with Malta, became the newest member of the Eurozone on January 1st this year which allows tourists to use euro rather than the Cypriot pound. Cyprus has already carved out a niche as a tourist hub and adoption of euro is expected to deliver a positive impact on Cyprus economy.
